Products I’ve Finished
I don’t have a load of things which I’ve finished this month, I’m predicting that I’ll have a lot more next month because I brought quite a lot of products back from Portugal which are almost finished and my aim for August is to use them up. But I do have a couple of things which I’ve finished in July that I want to share with you.
What’s In My Travel Cosmetics Bag?
By the time this post goes live I will be in Portugal! Excited does not cover it. Anyway, I’m trying to schedule posts well ahead so that they will still go live on my blog every other day, something I’ve amazed myself by managing since the beginning of the year. (Now I just need to hope people are reading and enjoying them). So anyway, I thought I’d share the things I’m taking away with me, cosmetics wise.
So most of my cosmetics will fit in this small bag with a gorgeous sunset palm tree design on it which my sister got me for my birthday from H&M. And it really is amazing how much you can fit into a bag when you need to! Of course, most of the things are travel size, but still, I’ve got a lot in there! And these are in no particular order, just whatever I grabbed first when I dumped everything I wanted to take out onto my bed.
As of Summer 2014
After doing an overview of my Makeup Storage in this post here, I decided to go a little more in depth and show what I have in my collection as it has grown quite a lot this year, I’ve become a bit of a makeup addict recently. It isn’t going to be really in depth, but I am going to tell you what everything is. If you would like any swatches or a review on any of the items then please do let me know and I’ll look into doing that for you. I’m going to split my Makeup Collection into a series of three posts, one for lip products, one for eye products and one for face products. This is going to be the post for what I am calling face products and is basically all of my primers, foundations, tinted moisturisers, bronzers, powders, concealers and blushes. These occupy the big bottom section of the box I store my makeup up, pictured below.
Products I’ve Finished
I’ve decided I’m going to try to make my Products I’ve Finished posts a monthly thing and I have a few products to share this month. I’ve got a lot more products than I thought I would, I seem to have come to the end of a lot of things at the same time, I definitely don’t think next months post will have as many items as this. Some other things have also probably been used up, but I live at home with my parents, so things like shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste etc stays in the bathroom and is shared. The products which feature in my Products I’ve Finished posts are the things which are solely mine.
10 Products I Want To Finish In 2014
So, for the year 2014 I’ve decided that one of my aims (apart from blogging every other day) is to use up several of the products I have which are half used. It seems like much of the shelf space beneath my mirror, which I pretty much use as my dressing table, is cluttered with bottles which are half full. I buy products, enjoy using them, but then buy something else to try and end up abandoning the original product and it’s left to decorate my shelf. So I’ve decided for 2014, I’m going to choose 10 products I want to finish (or hit pan on) this year and then do another post at the end of the year to see if I have been successful. I may also do some more Products I’ve Finished posts to keep track of how I’m getting on. I’m using the period of a year, as some of the products I only use during certain seasons and so I don’t feel too much pressure as I still want to enjoy other products as well. So onto the 10 products I’m going to attempt to use up this year. In many of the photos I’ve tried to take the picture to show how far down the bottle I am. They are in no particular order, but just as I saw them on my shelf really.
Best of Beauty 2013 Tag
I was tagged by the lovely Benita over at Benita’s Beauty Bits and Bobs to do this tag. If you haven’t already checked out her blog, then you really need to, she is amazing. The Tag is to share your favourite beauty products in a certain category from 2013. Now I’ll be the first to admit that makeup is not a strong suit of mine, but 2013 has been the year when I’ve worn makeup more than I’ve ever worn it before, so I’m so happy and excited that Benita tagged me to do this. I don’t know all that much about makeup, I’m much more of a nail varnish girl then a makeup girl, but I am slowly learning, and many of the makeup products I use are the same over and over again, but I’m happy to share what I do use with you all. And hopefully 2014 will bring new products for me to try. 🙂
I will hold my hands up and admit I don’t use a face primer, I just use moisturiser before applying my foundation. And my favourite one in 2013 was my Olay Essentials Complete Care Plus Everyday Sunshine Moisturising Cream.
Products I’ve Finished
So this is my first ever products I’ve used up post. I love watching these empties videos on YouTube at the end of each month to see what people have been enjoying. But I’ve never done a post of my own as I don’t really use things up that quickly and I use the same products over and over so it’d get really repetitive really quick. But this month I have finished a few different items at the same time so I thought I’d share them with you.
Colours of the Rainbow Tag
So, I watched a load of the Colours of the Rainbow Tag videos on YouTube this summer. And I’ve kind of made an early New Year’s Resolution, I want to try and post a lot more regularly on my blog. So I’ve been looking for topics and ideas which I can prepare ahead of time. And one of the things I came up with was to do some of my favourite Tags from YouTube.
Now from watching the videos I get the idea that many American’s are taught to remember the order of the colours of the rainbow by learning the name Roy. G. Biv. Here in England we are usually taught the phrase Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain, and that is certainly the way I remember them. I also really like it about I’m a big history fan and this phrase refers to Richard Duke of York’s defeat at the battle of Wakefield during the War of the Roses in 1460. Richard himself was never King but two of his sons were, Edward IV and Richard III.
It varied from person to person whether they choose a product whose packaging matched the colour or whether they went for the colour of the product itself. I’m going with packaging, it was easier! For some products I also have an honourable mention because it was difficult to just choose one. Also a lot of the videos added in categories for pink and multicoloured. I’m going to do the seven colours of the rainbow, pink, gold, silver, black and white.
H&M, Zara and Superdrug
So mum and I both had the day off work following going to see Jesus Christ Superstar the previous evening so we took a shopping trip to York. York is a great place to go shopping and its really pretty. I did need some new clothes but I didn’t go wanting anything in particular. I like York because it has a really big Topshop and it also has an Urban Outfitters store, the only one anywhere near us. However I was disappointed with both these stores and didn’t buy anything from either. York is also the only place near us with a Mango store but there wasn’t much in there either apart from one really pretty dress which I couldn’t justify buying. But I did buy a couple of things from Zara, H&M and Superdrug.
Primark, Superdrug and The Body Shop
So my mum, sister and I took a trip to the Metrocentre, which for everyone outside of the North East of England, is Europe’s largest shopping mall and is about an hour’s drive from where we live. I didn’t go wanting to buy anything in particular and it was mostly essentials which I bought and I though I’d share them. Indeed, I only bought things from three different shops; Primark, Superdrug and The Body Shop.
I’ll start with Primark. The first thing I got was a pair of pyjamas. I was (still am) in desperate need of new PJ’s as I’m currently alternating between two pairs suitable for the winter months, so I got these cute white and baby blue one’s with tea cups on. They came as a set and only cost £8. They’re full leg length ones and the top has shirt cap sleeves.
