Nails of the Month
December 2014 & January 2015
Okay, this is combined post for my manicures from December 2014 and 2015. I’ve had to take an unplanned break from my blog due to ongoing computer and internet problems. I had a load of end of the year posts planned, but then my computer played up and I lost everything, including all my photos and drafts and lists of how many nail varnishes I’d used in 2014, which one had now featured on my blog etc and I just haven’t had the time to redo any of them. 2015 is going to be an incredibly busy year for me, so I’m probably only going to be posting one a week or once a fortnight for now. But on to the nail varnish. I don’t have photos for many of these as unfortunately they all got deleted and those I do have are pretty bad ones took on my mobile, but they’re better than nothing right?
So firstly, back at the beginning of December I wore Dollish Polish’s These Aren’t The Droids You’re Looking For over Barry M’s Gold Foil.
Nails of the Month
The first nail varnish I wore this month was Dollish Polish’s I Volunteer As Tribute. You can read my review on this nail varnish by clicking here.
Nails of the Month
The first colour I wore this month was Nails Inc’s Blenheim Terrace. This is a lovely dark peach colour with pink undertones and an almost invisible shimmer in it. This is also a nail varnish which was on my Unfeatured Nail Varnish List.
Nail Varnish Review
Nails Inc – Pudding Lane
I bought Nails Inc’s Pudding Lane last summer but this summer I have fallen in love with it so completely that I just had to share it. Pudding Lane is part of Nails Inc’s Sprinkles collection which last summer was their take on the speckled nail varnish trend. I still really love that trend, a coloured base with one or two colours of small glitter in it.
Nails of the Month
The first colour I wore this month was Collection 2000 Hot Looks’ Blue Hawaii. I needed something quick drying and this was already out from when I used it last month.
Nail Varnishes That Haven’t Featured On My Blog
As of April 2014
So, I was sorting through my (extensive) nail varnish collection the other day and ended up compiling a list of nail varnishes I have that have never featured on my blog. This means they haven’t been named in any Nails of the Month, Nail of the Day, Nail of the Week, Nail Art or Top Five posts. I haven’t used my nail varnish collection series posts in this as these only contain bottle shots and I haven’t actually used the nail varnishes for those posts.
I’m really enjoying working my way through my list of Products I Want To Finish In 2014 and I decided I wanted to do something similar with my nail varnishes. I have over 100 nail varnishes in my collection which haven’t featured on my blog, but considering the size of my nail varnish collection and looking at it percentage wise, it’s actually not all that many in the grand scheme of things. And just because they haven’t featured on my blog does not mean that they haven’t been used. Many of them I will have worn on my toes, or they have featured in nail art but if I haven’t done a specific post for that nail art look then they may not have been named in the subsequent Nails of the Month post and some pre-date my blog and have been used extensively before I started blogging.
So, my mum, my younger sister and I were pretty disappointed last winter when the TV series Merlin ended. I still can’t quite believe it was on for five series though – were did those five years go?! Anyway, this winter there was a new drama series on BBC. Atlantis. My younger sister had moved out by the time it aired but mum and I very quickly fell in love with show. I in particular adore mythology and ancient history and I get a lot of that from my mum so it was probably a given that we were going to enjoy the show. And may I just say one thing? Jack Donnelly!!!
I knew I wanted to do some nail art for the season finale, but with Christmas and family visits and work, I didn’t actually get to do it until the New Year. I did a quick google search but couldn’t find that anyone has done an Atlantis nail art, so maybe I’m the first. I stuck to a pretty simple design, which to be honest of anyone saw they wouldn’t know it was nail art based on the BBC programme Atlantis. Each of my four fingers represent one of the main characters and my thumb Atlantis itself.
Nail Varnish Collection Series
As of Autumn 2013
So I’ve decided to start a new series of posts to share my nail varnish collection. I’ve seen a couple of other bloggers do this recently and I really enjoy looking at what nail varnishes other people have. I’ve mentioned in a couple of comments that I’ve been thinking of doing this series of posts and people have said they would like to see it, so here’s the beginning.
Now the only reason what I am starting with Nails Inc is because I had to do some shifting around in my nail varnish boxes the other day and they ended up out on my bedroom floor and I had the perfect opportunity to take the photos I needed to of them. Some of my Nails Inc nail varnishes are some of the oldest in my collection, as being British they are easier to get hold of, and I’ve only recently discovered how easy it is to get my hands on certain brands (OPI, China Glaze, Zoya etc) on eBay.
So onto what Nails Inc nail varnishes I have!
So over the last month I’ve really started to embrace the autumn colours and I decided that I wanted to do some nail art. The result was these cute owl nails.
The Nail Wheel of Fortune
This month I made my Nail Wheel of Fortune a little different. All my swatches correspond to a spreadsheet and every swatch has it’s own number. Since summer now seems to be drawing towards it’s end here in northern England, I decided that I wanted to wear more neon colours and more glitters. So I used random.org to pick a number, and the first glitter or neon varnish under that number on my list is the one I wore.
And so this post is super late in going up, but one of my best friends came across from America for a visit and we went to Edinburgh, so I’ve been busy having fun!
So the first glitter randomly chosen was Lac Attack’s Muggles. I was originally going to layer this over E.l.f’s Lilac, but when I went to get that varnish E.l.f’s Mint Cream caught my eye and that is what I ended up using as my base colour.
