Boots, Zara, Next, Fenwick and Candy Hero
It seems like a while since I’ve done a haul post, but this is the result of a shopping trip with my mum and sister the other week to York. We also went out for a really nice lunch while we were there and had an amazing time. I’m considering doing an Outfit of the Day post from this trip, let me know if you’d be interested. I did buy some Christmas presents, but these are the things I bought for myself. Quite a few of them I am classing as essentials. I think I’ve mentioned before but I’m in need of an entirely new winter wardrobe. I’m down to only two decent pairs of jeans and don’t have many smart casual tops which are decent to be seen in public with, most of the one’s I was wearing last winter are now so worn that they’re relegated to the lazy days spent curled up wearing only zone.
You Beauty Discovery Box
So, I’ve had my box for about two and a half weeks now, but just never seemed to get around to posting it. November has been crazy, and not really for good reasons and I’ve found it quite hard to keep up with my posting schedule. But this is what I got in my You Beauty Discovery Box for November, and I’m pretty impressed this month.
What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag?
So, now that I’m back from Portugal (I wish I was still there), I thought I’d do an updated What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag post. My makeup collection has expanded a lot since I done my Spring What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag post from my trip to Paris. And also since I went for two weeks, I took a fairly sizeable chunk of it with me.
For face and eye products I used this sturdy, see through bright green bag, which I got from WH Smith and is technically supposed to be a pencil case, but it worked brilliantly for makeup.
As of Summer 2014
After doing an overview of my Makeup Storage in this post here, I decided to go a little more in depth and show what I have in my collection as it has grown quite a lot this year, I’ve become a bit of a makeup addict recently. It isn’t going to be really in depth, but I am going to tell you what everything is. If you would like any swatches or a review on any of the items then please do let me know and I’ll look into doing that for you. I’m going to split my Makeup Collection into a series of three posts, one for lip products, one for eye products and one for face products. This is going to be the post for what I am calling face products and is basically all of my primers, foundations, tinted moisturisers, bronzers, powders, concealers and blushes. These occupy the big bottom section of the box I store my makeup up, pictured below.
Boots, Superdrug and Home Bargains
So my recent skincare and makeup addiction is continuing and I’ve bought a couple of things recently which I thought I’d share. Some of these, especially from Home Bargains, I class as essential products as I’m going to be taking them to Portugal with me in less than four weeks and I really need to start getting prepared!
I’ll start with what I got at Boots. Firstly I got a Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Demure. This is a lovely neutral shade, perfect for day time wear and all year round, with just a hint of shimmer.
River Island, Accessorize, H&M, Next, Topshop, Superdrug and Boots
Despite the shops named in this haul, you might be surprised to find that it is mostly a Spring makeup haul. There are a couple of other things as well, but the majority is makeup. I pretty much wear the same makeup everyday when I am wearing it, but I’ve wanted to change it up a little bit for Spring recently, so I’ve treated myself to a couple of new lip products and some blushes among other things. These were gathered over a couple of trips with my mum and sister when we had a couple of days off work together.
What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag?
As of March 2014
I’ve seen several posts floating around recently where people have been sharing what is in their daily makeup bags. Since I’m recently back from a trip to Paris with my mum, I thought I would share what was in my travel makeup bag since most of the things I took are the things I use every day (when I wear makeup, which isn’t everyday usually), with just a couple of extras to change it up occasionally.
Best of Beauty 2013 Tag
I was tagged by the lovely Benita over at Benita’s Beauty Bits and Bobs to do this tag. If you haven’t already checked out her blog, then you really need to, she is amazing. The Tag is to share your favourite beauty products in a certain category from 2013. Now I’ll be the first to admit that makeup is not a strong suit of mine, but 2013 has been the year when I’ve worn makeup more than I’ve ever worn it before, so I’m so happy and excited that Benita tagged me to do this. I don’t know all that much about makeup, I’m much more of a nail varnish girl then a makeup girl, but I am slowly learning, and many of the makeup products I use are the same over and over again, but I’m happy to share what I do use with you all. And hopefully 2014 will bring new products for me to try. 🙂
I will hold my hands up and admit I don’t use a face primer, I just use moisturiser before applying my foundation. And my favourite one in 2013 was my Olay Essentials Complete Care Plus Everyday Sunshine Moisturising Cream.
Colours of the Rainbow Tag
So, I watched a load of the Colours of the Rainbow Tag videos on YouTube this summer. And I’ve kind of made an early New Year’s Resolution, I want to try and post a lot more regularly on my blog. So I’ve been looking for topics and ideas which I can prepare ahead of time. And one of the things I came up with was to do some of my favourite Tags from YouTube.
Now from watching the videos I get the idea that many American’s are taught to remember the order of the colours of the rainbow by learning the name Roy. G. Biv. Here in England we are usually taught the phrase Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain, and that is certainly the way I remember them. I also really like it about I’m a big history fan and this phrase refers to Richard Duke of York’s defeat at the battle of Wakefield during the War of the Roses in 1460. Richard himself was never King but two of his sons were, Edward IV and Richard III.
It varied from person to person whether they choose a product whose packaging matched the colour or whether they went for the colour of the product itself. I’m going with packaging, it was easier! For some products I also have an honourable mention because it was difficult to just choose one. Also a lot of the videos added in categories for pink and multicoloured. I’m going to do the seven colours of the rainbow, pink, gold, silver, black and white.
