Nails of the Month
December 2014 & January 2015
Okay, this is combined post for my manicures from December 2014 and 2015. I’ve had to take an unplanned break from my blog due to ongoing computer and internet problems. I had a load of end of the year posts planned, but then my computer played up and I lost everything, including all my photos and drafts and lists of how many nail varnishes I’d used in 2014, which one had now featured on my blog etc and I just haven’t had the time to redo any of them. 2015 is going to be an incredibly busy year for me, so I’m probably only going to be posting one a week or once a fortnight for now. But on to the nail varnish. I don’t have photos for many of these as unfortunately they all got deleted and those I do have are pretty bad ones took on my mobile, but they’re better than nothing right?
So firstly, back at the beginning of December I wore Dollish Polish’s These Aren’t The Droids You’re Looking For over Barry M’s Gold Foil.
One nail art look I really wanted to create this autumn was a Dracula nail art look. Once again you can find loads of different versions if you look on google, but I wanted to share my take on them. And this is the look I came up with. I didn’t have loads of time, so Dracula himself is only on my accent nail. He turned out a lot cuter then I thought he would, so this is how I created this look.
Nails of the Month
The first nail varnish I wore this month was Dollish Polish’s I Volunteer As Tribute. You can read my review on this nail varnish by clicking here.
Outfit of the Day
Warm First Night Abroad
Expect a few Outfit of the Day posts from me not that I’m back from Portugal (unfortunately – wish I was still there!). This is my Outfit from the first night we were there, following a long day of travelling.
Nail Varnishes That Haven’t Featured On My Blog
As of April 2014
So, I was sorting through my (extensive) nail varnish collection the other day and ended up compiling a list of nail varnishes I have that have never featured on my blog. This means they haven’t been named in any Nails of the Month, Nail of the Day, Nail of the Week, Nail Art or Top Five posts. I haven’t used my nail varnish collection series posts in this as these only contain bottle shots and I haven’t actually used the nail varnishes for those posts.
I’m really enjoying working my way through my list of Products I Want To Finish In 2014 and I decided I wanted to do something similar with my nail varnishes. I have over 100 nail varnishes in my collection which haven’t featured on my blog, but considering the size of my nail varnish collection and looking at it percentage wise, it’s actually not all that many in the grand scheme of things. And just because they haven’t featured on my blog does not mean that they haven’t been used. Many of them I will have worn on my toes, or they have featured in nail art but if I haven’t done a specific post for that nail art look then they may not have been named in the subsequent Nails of the Month post and some pre-date my blog and have been used extensively before I started blogging.
River Island, Accessorize, H&M, Next, Topshop, Superdrug and Boots
Despite the shops named in this haul, you might be surprised to find that it is mostly a Spring makeup haul. There are a couple of other things as well, but the majority is makeup. I pretty much wear the same makeup everyday when I am wearing it, but I’ve wanted to change it up a little bit for Spring recently, so I’ve treated myself to a couple of new lip products and some blushes among other things. These were gathered over a couple of trips with my mum and sister when we had a couple of days off work together.
Nail Varnish Collection
As of Winter 2013
Next up in my Nail Varnish Collection series are my nail varnishes from Accessorize. You can see the previous posts in this collection series by clicking here. I really like Accessorize nail varnishes but I have one rather big complaint with them and that is the bottle. I find the lid quite difficult to hold and that in turn makes it slightly awkward to paint my nails. I try not to let that stop me though, as they have some gorgeous colours. I don’t know about the availability of these nail varnishes outside of the UK but I either bought mine from Accessorize itself or one of my local Superdrug stores has an Accessorize display.
Lord of the Rings
The Two Towers End Scene
So, over Christmas and New Year, I’ve watched Lord of the Rings so many times. I’m one of those people, if I like a film and I’m really in the mood for it I can watch it over and over again. I don’t know why I equate Lord of the Rings with this time of year, maybe it’s because the films were released at cinema in December time and I can remember going to see all three of them. My one purchase in the Boxing Day sale was from Amazon and it was the extended edition of Lord of the Rings on blu-ray, and I thought it was pretty much a steal for £22.99.
So, my mum, my younger sister and I were pretty disappointed last winter when the TV series Merlin ended. I still can’t quite believe it was on for five series though – were did those five years go?! Anyway, this winter there was a new drama series on BBC. Atlantis. My younger sister had moved out by the time it aired but mum and I very quickly fell in love with show. I in particular adore mythology and ancient history and I get a lot of that from my mum so it was probably a given that we were going to enjoy the show. And may I just say one thing? Jack Donnelly!!!
I knew I wanted to do some nail art for the season finale, but with Christmas and family visits and work, I didn’t actually get to do it until the New Year. I did a quick google search but couldn’t find that anyone has done an Atlantis nail art, so maybe I’m the first. I stuck to a pretty simple design, which to be honest of anyone saw they wouldn’t know it was nail art based on the BBC programme Atlantis. Each of my four fingers represent one of the main characters and my thumb Atlantis itself.
The Nail Wheel of Fortune
So for the month if July, in an effort to wear some of my less used nail varnishes, I resurrected my Nail Wheel if Fortune idea, where I have been randomly picking a nail varnish to wear, click here to see the inspiration behind the idea and here to see the first month. The exception to this rule is when I decided to do nail art, which happened on a couple of occasions this month. I also tried to change my nail varnish at least every other day.
The first colour I randomly picked was Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear’s Crushed, which is a lovely metallic orange colour.
