Nail Varnish Picks
Now that there’s a definite nip in the air and the nights are drawing in, it is very easy to see that autumn is well on the way to northern England. And that tends to mean that the nail varnishes I reach for on a regular basis are different to the ones I wear in the summer. I’ve worn a lot of neon nail varnish this summer (I haven’t worn anything else on my toes) but I’ve now pretty much put them back in their boxes until next summer now. The weather and season’s really do influence what nail varnish I will wear. I know some people just wear whatever they want when they want, and that’s great, but these are the nail varnishes which I know I’ll be reaching for a lot this season, and probably into winter as well. I have included photos if I have worn the nail varnishes I’m writing about before, but there are a few which I mention which I haven’t used yet, which I have been saving for this autumn.
The first nail varnish I want to talk about is Zodiac by Topshop. I have an entire review on this nail varnish and the read that, click here. And there’s not much more to say about this nail varnish than I said there. It’s a blackish greeny colour with a really strong gold shimmer in it. And I mean it is loaded with shimmer. It is from Topshop’s Spring Summer 2012 collection Sisters of the New Moon, so I’m not sure if it is available anymore.
The Ryder Cup 2012
If you’ve read any of my previous blog posts you will know that I’m a huge sport fan. And that I love combining sport with my love for nail varnish and nail art. And the Ryder Cup has presented another opportunity to do that. Dad and I will be cheering on Europe for the next three days, and on my nails I have alternatively painted a little golf course and a version on the European Union flag.
Nail of the Day
Okay, so I’m planning on doing another nails of the month once September ends in just about a week (where has the month gone?!) but I’ve just painted my nails and absolutely fallen in love with this design and I just had to share it. I’ve changed my nail varnish really regularly this month, but this design is one of my favourites.
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
I’m so excited! I’ve finally managed to find this nail varnish on eBay. I’ve been looking for it for what seems like ages. I’ve heard so many good things about this nail varnish on YouTube and nail varnish blogs that I’m now super excited and can’t wait for it to arrive.
Nails of the Month
Nail designs I’ve worn in August 2012. I think I’ve said before, but I’m lucky at work, I can wear whatever I like on my nails, they don’t have to be “work appropriate”. Which is brilliant, so I can just wear whatever I fancy.
The first colour I wore on my nails this month was OPI’s Absolutely Alice, with Barry M’s gold shatter over the top on my thumb and ring finger. Maybe this was a bit much for everyday wear, but it was my first week back at work after annual leave, and I wanted something pretty to look at while I was typing! Also, later on in the week when my nail varnish started to chip, I put the gold shatter over the rest of my nails, and you couldn’t tell. This varnish completely ate top coat though. I was using Essie’s Super Duper Top Coat as I had run out of A-England’s The Shield Topcoat and no matter how many coats I used I could not get rid of that textured feeling.
